Coming to Counselling:

As a first step, make an appointment to come along and meet an experienced counselling assessor. They will listen to what you are wanting and can tell you about the resources that CCS can offer. Regular sessions can be agreed with a selected counsellor. These are arranged on a mutually convenient weekly basis and may be held during the day, or the evening.

Just call our office on 01243 789200 to book an initial consultation.

Counselling Contributions.

CCS relies on client contributions and fund-raising in order to provide its service. Some of our services are charged at full-cost. For our standard counselling service, we ask that clients consider a contribution of between £15 and £60 per session. As a charity, however, we undertake to provide this service to all clients, regardless of their ability to pay, or willingness to make a donation. As client donations are voluntary, they may be eligible for Gift-Aid.

Contracts with employers.

CCS works with employers and health insurance companies to provide counselling for their employees or clients (contact us to discuss). CCS also welcomes NHS and Social Services funding for individual clients.

Introduction

If you are not sure how counselling can help, the attached five-minute video from Youtube.com might help answer some of your questions.

Susan Fee is a professional, licensed American counsellor (not affiliated with Chichester Counselling Services) who recorded this video to give a clear and helpful description of what counselling is and what it aims to achieve with a client. Although Susan talks about being licensed (an American process), UK’s licensing scheme is currently going through its own preparation processes. However, you can be assured that counsellors who are BACP Accredited or UKRCP registered (to give two examples), or who are training on a BACP Accredited Training Course (as in the case with CCS counsellors in training) can be considered as practising in a similar, ethical way that Susan describes from a USA point of view.

Begin confidential counselling with CCS.

Book an initial consultation with us on 01243 789200.

You will be offered an assessment with a choice of appointment times a fortnight from your call. We ask you to pay what you can afford for this appointment, usually between £10 and £60. Whatever you decide to donate to our costs beyond this is your voluntary donation.

The assessment lasts for about one hour – and you will meet with one of our dedicated team of assessors. The assessor and you will talk about what problems you are bringing to counselling, and you will be able to discuss what sort of our counselling services that might be suitable for you. You will also talk about your availability for ongoing counselling – which will be with another counsellor dedicated to your case, not with your assessor.

Therapy of between six and twelve sessions enables you and the counsellor to focus on a key problem or area of difficulty in your life. It is a limited commitment in terms of time and money, but surprisingly effective.

Why Counselling?

Our counselling provides a space in which to talk with a trained counsellor about issues or feelings that worry or disturb you. When working in a stressed environment being given time to reflect, express feelings, consider options, and find a way forward can release that stress and enable you to access internal resources that have been blocked.

Why Chichester Counselling Services?

Chichester Counselling Services provides a pleasant, neutral venue away from work and family. All our six session counsellors are qualified in both open-ended and brief therapeutic work.

All our counselling session times begin on the hour, and we have appointments to suit you from from 9am until 8pm, Monday to Thursday, and 9am until 4pm Fridays (though we can arrange later appointments on Fridays when required)

Our location in central Chichester is accessible and private. Client confidentiality is a key value for us.

Why Now?

Stress is a regular part of our lives, but sometimes a particular stressor becomes too much. It may be a loss or bereavement, a significant change in your work or personal life, an issue from the past that troubles, or a dilemma you can’t see a way through. Finding the right help makes a real difference.

Call us today to book your appointment

Chichester Counselling Services offer a couple counselling service. This service is staffed by experienced counsellors qualified to diploma level, most of whom are professionally recognised through British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy accreditation.

Our staff have added to their qualifications & experience in individual therapy by attending a fifteen month training in couple therapy. Our training is informed by both psychodynamic and systemic thinkings – tried and tested methodologies that stem back to 1970s family therapy thinking.

How to begin couple counselling with us.

Click to Contact us.

When you make contact with us we will ask for your availability. We will try to offer you an initial assessment which matches your availability – but we ask you to be as flexible as possible.

The assessment begins with an initial appointment lasting fifty minutes where you both meet the counsellor together. During this time the counsellor will learn about your couple difficulties, you will get to experience how the counsellor works with you, and both you, your partner and the counsellor will get to understand and discuss if this therapy is right for you at this time.

If, after this session, all are agreeable, the counsellor may ask to meet with each individual separately in subsequent sessions in order to learn each individual’s points of view about the relationship … and also their individual history. Finally, the counsellor will meet with the couple again for everyone to discuss what they believe should be the focus of the counselling work, having gained some insight into the relationship during the assessment process.

If we cannot help we will do our best to refer to an agency/individual who can.

What could couple counselling help with?

Couple counselling helps with:-

communication,

present life events (eg children – including first babies & teenagers, retirement, job loss/change),

ageing parents,

impact of employment/unemployment,

sexual difficulties,

domestic abuse / violence,

separation/divorce,

step families,

impact of childhood events,

illness,

bereavement

…and many other aspects of difficulties on couple relationships.

Make an appointment.

Ring us on 01243 789200 or email us today to book your “couple counselling” assessment appointment.
