CCS Introduces Couple Counselling
Introducing a new couples counselling service.
Chichester Counselling Services offer a couple counselling service. This service is staffed by experienced counsellors qualified to diploma level, most of whom are professionally recognised through British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy accreditation.
Our staff have added to their qualifications & experience in individual therapy by attending a fifteen month training in couple therapy. Our training is informed by both psychodynamic and systemic thinkings – tried and tested methodologies that stem back to 1970s family therapy thinking.
How to begin couple counselling with us.
When you make contact with us we will ask for your availability. We will try to offer you an initial assessment which matches your availability – but we ask you to be as flexible as possible.
The assessment begins with an initial appointment lasting fifty minutes where you both meet the counsellor together. During this time the counsellor will learn about your couple difficulties, you will get to experience how the counsellor works with you, and both you, your partner and the counsellor will get to understand and discuss if this therapy is right for you at this time.
If, after this session, all are agreeable, the counsellor may ask to meet with each individual separately in subsequent sessions in order to learn each individual’s points of view about the relationship … and also their individual history. Finally, the counsellor will meet with the couple again for everyone to discuss what they believe should be the focus of the counselling work, having gained some insight into the relationship during the assessment process.
If we cannot help we will do our best to refer to an agency/individual who can.
